The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and Chief Constable visited Ethnic Youth Support Team Wales (EYST) in Swansea on 27 March, alongside the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Communications and Engagement Lead, to learn more about the organisations work, supporting diverse communities across Wales.

EYST is an award-winning charity established to support ethnic minority young people, families and individuals, providing a wide range of services, including education, employment, health, family support and community safety initiatives.

During the visit, discussions focussed on the challenges and opportunities facing communities as well as the importance of partnership working to build trust, improve engagement and ensure services are accessible to all.

The visit provided an opportunity to explore how policing and partner organisations can continue to work collaboratively to support individuals from diverse backgrounds, including young people and those who may face additional barriers in accessing services.

Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn said:
“It was a pleasure to visit EYST and hear first-hand about the vital work they are delivering across Wales. Organisations like EYST play a crucial role in supporting communities and it is important that we continue to work together to ensure everyone feels safe, heard and supported.”

The visit reflects the ongoing commitment of the PCC and Dyfed-Powys Police to working In partnership with community organisations to support safer, stronger and more inclusive communities.
