On July 1, Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Dafydd Llywelyn and members of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) spent the day meeting with community organisations and partners across Carmarthenshire and Powys as part of the PCC's latest Community Engagement Day.

The day began in Ammanford, where the Commissioner attended the official opening of Cruyff Court at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman. The new community sports facility will provide opportunities for young people and local resident to take part in sport and physical activity, helping to promote health and wellbeing within the community.

The Commissioner then travelled to Brecon to visit Calan DVS Women's Refuge, meeting staff to hear more about the vital support they provide to women and families experiencing domestic abuse. The visit provided an opportunity to learn more about challenges facing survivors and the importance of partnership working to ensure people can access the support when they need it most.

The day concluded in Brecon, with a meeting of the Community Scrutiny Panel, where independent volunteers reviewed anonymised police interactions with members of the public. The panel provides valuable oversight, helping to improve transparency and accountability in policing across the Dyfed-Powys area.

Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn said:
"Community Engagement Days provide a valuable opportunity to meet people and organisations who are making a real difference across our communities. Every visit helps strengthen the relationships that are so important to improve policing and community safety. I would like to thank everyone who welcomed us throughout the day and for the work they continue to do across the Dyfed-Powys area."
